Associate Engineer

Dokken Engineering is currently seeking full-time Associate Civil Engineers to support project managers through the entire design process (from proposal through PS&E and construction support) for small to large transportation projects throughout California. The ideal candidate has been responsible for at least one project that they personally designed and supported through construction.

We have opportunities in our roadway, bridge and hydraulics/hydrology engineering groups.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Execute engineering tasks for the planning, design and construction of transportation projects

  • Perform/produce detailed geometric designs, design calculations, technical reports, and PS&E for transportation facilities

  • Coordinate with internal disciplines, utility companies, subconsultants, and clients involved in projects

  • Perform quality control for projects

  • Mentor less experienced staff

Requirements:

  • BS degree in engineering

  • California PE license

  • 5 to 10 years of transportation project experience after graduation

  • Success in the delivery of completed (100%) PS&E packages for transportation projects

  • Understanding of multidisciplinary team coordination, compilation of design and construction documents, and local agency and Caltrans design standards and practices

Senior Engineer/Project Manager

Dokken Engineering is currently seeking a Senior Engineer/Project Manager to support project teams through the entire design process (from proposal through PS&E and construction support) for small to large transportation projects throughout California. The ideal candidate has been responsible for 5 or more projects that he/she personally designed and supported through construction.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Execute engineering tasks for the planning, design and construction of transportation projects

  • Perform/produce detailed geometric designs, design calculations, technical reports, and PS&E for transportation facilities

  • Coordinate with internal disciplines, utility companies, subconsultants, and clients involved in projects

  • Provide strong and focused support to project managers in keeping projects on schedule and within budget

Archaeologist / Environmental Planner

Dokken is seeking a highly talented and motivated Archaeologist/Environmental Planner to implement cultural resources management tasks as well as various other environmental planning duties.  This individual will have the ability to conduct field assessments of cultural resources and to prepare stand-alone environmental technical reports that comply with both CEQA and NEPA regulations; and has proven abilities in cultural resource assessments and archaeological field experience, including survey and excavation.

The ideal candidate has been responsible for 5-10 projects that he/she personally completed archaeological surveys or excavation on and prepared the written documentation of the findings.  

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct literature research and record searches

  • Coordinate Native American consultation (AB52 and Section 106)

  • Complete archaeological pedestrian surveys

  • Conduct archaeological excavation (testing and data recovery)

  • Write technical reports and environmental documentation including, but not limited to, Caltrans-formatted cultural reports

  • Work with other disciplines within the company, clients, regulatory authorities and subconsultants, in-person and with video/teleconference meetings

  • Secure environmental permits

  • Assist with the developing and implementing mitigation and monitoring reporting programs

  • Provide peer and QA/QC review of technical studies and environmental documents

  • Overall transportation planning NEPA/CEQA compliance

  • Help in the preparation of proposals in response to client requests

Requirements:

  • Completed an archaeological field school and be enrolled in or holds a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in anthropology, archaeology, or related field

  • 2 to 10 years of experience in related fieldwork, preferably in California

  • Good working knowledge of Federal and California environmental laws (i.e., Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, NEPA, and CEQA)

Wildlife Biologist / Environmental Planner

Dokken is seeking a highly talented and motivated Wildlife Biologist/Environmental Planner to complete biological resource and environmental planning tasks.  This individual will have the ability to conduct field assessments of environmental resources, specifically including biological resources, and to prepare stand-alone environmental reports that comply with both CEQA and NEPA regulations; and has proven abilities in biological resource assessments and/or environmental management projects.

 

The ideal candidate has been responsible for at least 2-3 projects that he/she personally completed biological field surveys on; developed or assisted with crafting solutions for complex environmental situations; prepared written documentation of findings; and/or provided environmental support through construction.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct literature research and record searches

  • Complete biological field surveys

  • Collect field data

  • Develop solutions for complex biological settings

  • Monitor construction work, ensuring compliance with the Federal and State Endangered Species Acts and NEPA/CEQA

  • Write technical reports and environmental documentation, including but not limited to Natural Environment Studies, Aquatic Resource Delineation Reports, Biological Assessments, and Restoration/Re-vegetation Plans

  • Work with other disciplines within the company, clients, regulatory authorities and subconsultants, in-person and with video/teleconference meetings

  • Assist with the developing and implementing mitigation and monitoring reporting programs

Associate Environmental Planner / Team Lead

Dokken is seeking a highly talented and motivated Associate Environmental Planner / Team Lead with proven abilities writing and overseeing the preparation of CEQA and NEPA environmental documents and technical studies, scoping and analyzing environmental impacts, and managing environmental projects.  This candidate will manage environmental projects and their associated tasks and manage a small team of environmental specialists. This position will be a part of a larger environmental unit and will be supervised by the Environmental Division Manager.

 

The ideal candidate has been responsible for +10 projects that he/she personally managed; developed and implemented solutions for complex environmental situations; wrote/oversaw reports; and worked collaboratively with project team members and stakeholders to gain consensus and approvals.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Environmental project management with the goal of overall environmental planning NEPA/CEQA compliance

  • Advancing projects timely through the environmental process

  • Write, or oversee the writing, of technical reports, including, but not limited to:

The ideal candidate has been responsible for 1-10 projects that he/she personally conducted research on, wrote sections or the entire technical report/study, and helped develop solutions when a challenging resources or conflict is identified.
