Dokken Engineering completed the PS&E for the Latrobe Road and White Rock Road widening and realignment project in western El Dorado County. Dokken Engineering worked closely with the County to deal with funding limitations. During development of the geometric approval drawing, Dokken Engineering provided a prioritized list of project limits and associated construction costs. With this information, the County divided the project into five phases. The project will include the widening and realignment of approximately 3 miles of Latrobe Road to increase the horizontal and vertical sight distance to current standards. Over half a mile of White Rock Road will also be widened to four lanes and realigned to reduce the skew angle at the intersection with Latrobe Road. |
Additional improvements include a 16 feet median, signalization, Class II bike lanes, and construction of a new bridge and box culvert. A new cast-in-place, prestressed concrete box girder bridge (98 feet long and 83 feet wide) was designed for Latrobe Road at Carson Creek. The existing bridge will remain in-place, to be used for a future bike path. A precast, soft-bottom arch culvert was designed for White Rock Road. Coordination with utilities, local business owners, future developers, and phasing were key issues with this project. Dokken Engineering conducted public meetings early in the project to involve local businesses, residents and developers in the alternative selection process. |
