As part of a design-build team, Dokken Engineering prepared the PS&E for the first phase of a 3-phase project to construct a full interchange on the San Joaquin Hills Transportation Corridor in Orange County. This project was designed with an accelerated schedule to obtain immediate local access to the toll road.

Engineering Studies
Dokken completed a Geotechnical Design Report, Structures Foundation Report, Structures Advance Planning Studies, Hydrology Report, and Storm Water Data Report, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan Report, and completed the Best Management Practices (BMPs).

Final Design (PS&E)
Components of the final PS&E package included a Traffic Management Plan (TMP), the grading design of an on-site stockpile, signing and striping, electrical design, stage construction and traffic handling plans, and a special design retaining wall.

Erosion Control Measures
A significant challenge for the project was creating erosion control measures for a large cut slope near the southbound on-ramp. A Landscape Concept Plan was prepared that included a variety of native trees, shrubs, and groundcover to maintain natural resource preservation and conservation to assist in developing an erosion control solution.
