Dokken Engineering completed the PS&E and environmental documentation for replacement of an open spandrel arch bridge connecting the Glenshire community with the Town of Truckee. The project included utility relocations, drainage design and realignment of Glenshire Drive. The existing bridge, which crossed both the Union Pacific Railroad (formerly SPRR) and the Truckee River, was constructed in 1925. Final design was performed on an accelerated basis in order to advertise for construction as soon as environmental documentation was approved and right-of-way was obtained. The project was funded through the HBRR program. |
Dokken Engineering staff, subconsultants and representatives of the Town attended an open house meeting to discuss the project ‘one-on-one’ with residents and other interested parties. As a result of public input at the open house and subsequent Town Council hearings, a three-span sloped-column design was selected as the preferred alternative. |
