Dokken Engineering prepared Plans, Specifications and Estimate (PS&E) for local street improvements to 1700 feet of Forni Road. The project widened and raised the profile grade to provide safer access and improved drivability for the public.

The improvements provided 12-foot traffic lanes, a 14-foot median/turn lane, bike lanes, curb & gutter, sidewalks, and a retaining wall with aesthetic treatment fronting US-50. Reconstruction of Forni Road also provided an opportunity to improve the profile grade by flattening an existing sag vertical curve.

Dokken Engineering coordinated the relocation of existing water, overhead electrical, telephone and cable television lines. Stage construction requirements were incorporated in the design of improvements to the existing storm drainage and sanitary sewer facilities.

This project was part of a regional improvement plan affecting US-50, which parallels Forni Road to the north. This project was designed to accommodate future improvements on US-50, as well as city street improvements at either end with little or no reconstruction of Forni Road in the future.
