Dokken Engineering prepared the Plans, Specifications and Estimate (PS&E) for the widening of Escondido Avenue over SR 78 and for the widening of the four ramps on the partial cloverleaf-type interchange with SR 78. Approximately 1,300 feet of Escondido Avenue was widened and realigned. All existing pavement on Escondido Avenue and the ramps were rehabilitated using both remove and replace and grind and overlay methods. |
The existing structure was a five-span, 46-foot wide overcrossing. The final design of the structure was a 272-foot long, 87-foot wide, cast-in-place, reinforced concrete box girder structure including a large cantilever structure mounted overhead sign. Standard retaining walls and a special design soldier pile type wall supporting the existing bent footings were included. The project included relocation of a SDG&E utility and revision to Right-of-Way and Access Control. Also prepared revised plans and special provisions to incorporate TEA funded enhancements at Office Engineer's final review stage. |
