Dokken Engineering provided the PS&E for the replacement of Cone Grove Road Bridge at New Creek in northern Tehama County. The project was funded through the Federal HBRR program. The existing 2-span, steel truss bridge was replaced with a 2-span, cast-in-place, prestressed concrete box girder structure which is 130 feet long and 34 feet wide. Approximately 1,300 feet of the roadway was realigned to correct deficiencies in the existing horizontal alignment. |
New Creek is an actively degrading stream, and the hydraulic study included a geomorphic analysis to determine the long-term scour requirements. Deep scour provisions were included in the design of the bridge foundations. Traffic was maintained during construction by means of a low-water detour just upstream of the bridge. |
