Dokken Engineering prepared the PS&E on an accelerated schedule for the realignment and widening of 2 miles of Auburn Folsom Road. The improvements increase the level of service, capacity, and safety of the roadway, and will include Class II bike lanes and equestrian trail enhancements. Additional improvements include a 16-foot wide median, signalization, drainage modifications, sound walls, retaining walls, and the addition of curb, gutter, and sidewalks in various locations. Due to the cost and funding constraints, the project was split into four phases of work. |
Multiple environmental requirements and coordination with federal agencies were handled to facilitate the early entry and right of way acquisition. The North and Middle phases of the project are designed to ensure compatibility with previously constructed improvements and are awaiting funding to proceed with construction. Dokken Engineering provided the necessary plans, specifications and estimates for the County to fully understand and budget all phases of work. Coordination with utilities, private land owners, local business owners, future developers, and phasing are key issues with this project. |
