The American River Water Education Center (ARWEC) required relocation due to the new Folsom Dam Bypass Bridge. The new location is several hundred yards to the north along the east side of Folsom Auburn Road. Dokken Engineering prepared the plans, specifications, and estimate for the relocation of six existing building and other facilities from the old location to the new site. The City of Folsom had to have the existing location vacant by a certain date to facilitate the Bypass Bridge construction. The design contract began in July 2006. |
Dokken Engineering obtained engineering information for the Bypass Bridge and other background information to begin the design. Coordination between the two projects was needed to insure compatibility with the storm water design and utility design. The final plans were submitted to the City by September 2006. The final plans included the alignment of the access road to the site from Folsom Auburn Road, storm drainage locations, and the relocation of the existing American River Bike Trial. The bike trail had to remain open to public use at all times. The new site impacted the bike trail and a temporary relocation was designed to insure amble room for the new site to be constructed. |
