Dokken Engineering provided planning and design services for the construction of a major new interchange in the Natomas area of Sacramento, to improve access to the Arco Arena sports complex and serve proposed new development. This is the first interchange in California to include continuous bike lanes; not only on the city streets, but through the entire Caltrans right-of-way. |
Dokken Engineering assisted Caltrans District 3 with preparation of the Project Study Report and Project Report. Our staff also assisted the City of Sacramento with processing the project through Caltrans for design approval and coordinated utility relocations. Dokken Engineering provided the complete roadway design for 2,525 feet of the 5-to-8-lane Arena Boulevard, four diagonal ramps and two loop ramps. Our structures group handled the design of the new overcrossing structure. The bridge is a 104 feet wide by 275 feet long, 2-span cast-in-place/pre-stressed concrete box girder design, supported on deep pile foundations. |
