Dokken Engineering prepared the PS&E for the construction of a new traffic signal at the intersection of Albers/Geer Road and SR 132 (Yosemite Blvd) in Stanislaus County. The improvements increased the level of service, capacity, and safety of the roadway by replacing the existing 4-way stop sign with a traffic signal. The design adhered to MUTCD standards and approved by District 10 Caltrans in Stockton. Along with the signal installation, over 6,000 feet of roadway widening and improvements were required.

SR 132 is a major east-west connector within the County and is State right of way. During peak hours it was not uncommon to have a traffic queue of over 2,000 feet in each direction. Due to the high traffic volumes two through lanes, through the intersection, were added to all four approaches. Right of way was acquired from fronting parcels along the state right of way to accommodate the new roadway width.

The project required an encroachment permit and cooperative agreement between the State and County. The surrounding topography is flat and roadway drainage was handled by means of roadside swales and dry wells that percolate the runoff back into the ground.
