SR 60/SR 71 New Interchange

Dokken Engineering, as a subconsultant, provided a wide range of professional services to the City of Pomona to construct 11.5 miles of freeway, connectors, ramps and local streets, 14 new bridges, and a major four level freeway to freeway interchange at the intersection of SR 60 with SR 71.

Dokken Engineering was responsible for advance planning studies and preparation of basic geometric layout design, structure studies, structure general plans, and structure Plans, Specifications and Estimate (PS&E) for 16 bridges. The project required special attention to the design of the outrigger bents and seismic requirements. The fourth level overcrossing on SR 60/SR 71 used single cell box girders with transverse pre-stressing.

Dokken Engineering also provided construction support, including shop drawing review, review of contractor proposals, and the review of a contractor designed haul bridge that was successfully constructed over SR 60, used by scrapers to haul 1 million cubic yards of earth, and safely removed.
